Love the comments about your Dad and how he would fix rather than buy new. My Dad was the same way. Dad would take nails out of old wood, put the nails in mason jars and store the wood for a future day. Yep! You never know when those nails or wood will come in handy! Please post the picture frames from your re-claimed wood. Nothing like recycling.

That hat is just too adorable! And I agree with you totally on the re-use of things. And perhaps with the renewed since of conserving in our society we "as a collective" will hopefully prevent such over demand in the future.

Great post, it is so true. I remember we had the same appliances growing up and my Dad would fix them whenever they broke down, now we just seem to constantly replace things. HAPPY Birthday to your husband.

I love your blog... the way you share your feeling of nature and your art with us. I also envy your lifestyle. I have always wanted to live out of the city and in a rural environment but sadly that never happened. I'm 61 now and ready to retire but feel living a rural lifestyle now would be impossible... just getting a little too slow to adapt. Thank you for your blogsite. Its wonderful.

Great post. I love to find another use for something or to repair it instead of throwing it away.

Wishing your husband a happy birthday tomorrow.
