What a lovely post celebrating June! June is special, bringing with it so much beauty including my birthday! firefly, you have such a poetic way with words...lovely indeed. I so enjoy my visits here. I am completely and totally inspired after reading your words and taking in the beauty of the farm. The hosta plant is absolutely beautiful and the variations of its foliage just lovely! The preserves look yummy! I remember my grand mother's delicious homemade preserves, nothing like it and oh so delicious! What a wonderful idea "firefly's Studio and Pantry", I love the sound of it...have fun with it! Oh and I must say the bags are beautiful! Hmmmmm, I must visit your Etsy Shop soon! Have a most lovely weekend!

Beautiful photos!

I grew up in upstate, about 90 minutes east of where I assume you are and my mother baked and sold bread out of our house for a few years. From what I recall, the health department inspection that was required to make & sell food items out of the home was not that difficult. Good luck to you and I can't wait to hear more about the store!

As usual, LOVE your photographs. Your days sound so full and rewarding -- making preserves, knitting, filling your etsy shop, painting, taking photographs... I have to admit that sometimes I feel like such a lazy slug when I read about all you do! LOL But I love reading about it, and seeing all your beautiful photos, so keep them coming!
xoxo,
Mary
btw, the deer always eat my hostas -- hope you have better luck!

The deep red color of those preserves is great. I live in TX now and can only get imported strawberries at the "farmers market" none of which are locally grown, they make a really wimpy color preserve. When living in NJ we had lots of pick-your-own farms and the strawberries were deep red and made lovely jams and preserves like yours, how I miss that!

Well well well!
You charm us with your words.
You enchant us with your photographs.

When your pictures capture my gaze,
I see beyond the photographic beauty
And what I behold beyond those pixels
Are grand paintings of fine art
From the colors and brush strokes
Of a timeless Master of Fine Art.

Thank you, firefly,
for all the forms of beauty
with which you grace
the denizens of our Planet Earth...

Hostas are great. A word of caution from my experience, do not place them near where you will be walking. The flower stems are very long and often fall over during/after a rain. And you get wet walking by them. We had them next to the driveway and got wet all the time.
